I was born in Lafayette, Indiana which is hard to admit knowing that Purdue University is so close. I grew up in Kokomo, Indiana. I graduated from Haworth High School in 1971, It is important to know that it is due to spending many summers as camper, counselor and leader trainer at YMCA Camp Tecumseh that I became a teacher. I taught canoeing before I taught social studies. I attended Indiana University in Kokomo and Bloomington graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1975. I married my wife Julie on August 16, 1975. I began my teaching career at St. Joan of Arc Junior High School from 1975-76. Our first son, Ian, was born on August 19, 1976. I taught the Social Studies from 1976-84 at Haworth High School. Our son Adam was born on June 6, 1978 and our daughter Emily was born on October 3, 1980. In the summer of 1980, I uprooted my family from Kokomo and we spent the summer in Bloomington, Indiana at Indiana University and finished 24 semester hours to complete my Masteer of Science degree in Education. I left Haworth High School in 1984 to become Assistant Principal for Pupil Personnel at Hammond High School in Hammond, Indiana (1984-86). I became Assistant Principal for Curriculum at Solon High School in 1986 (1986-88). In 1988, I moved my family from Solon (outside Cleveland, Ohio) to Charlestown, Indiana as I became Principal of Henryville Junior/Senior High School (1988-92). This was a fabulous learning experience as a young administrator. I completed my Ed.S degree in 1990 though I.U. Bloomington.

In 1992 I moved my family to Harrison, Ohio to become the Assistant Superintendent for the Southwest Local Schools (outside Cincinnati, Ohio). I worked extensively with curriculum and helped bring technology to the school system. I served the Southwest Local Schools from 1992-1998. During that time, I was admitted to the Doctoral Program through the University of Cincinnati. In 1998 I completed my Doctoral Degree through U.C. In 1998 I became Superintendent of the Rossford Exempted Village Schools (outside Toledo, Ohio - 1998-2001). My family and I returned to Kokomo, Indiana (back home again) in 2001. I became Director of Elementary and Middle School Education for the Kokomo-Center Schools. and served in that position from 2001-2006. In 2006 I became Principal of Lafayette Park Middle School. I was returning to the school that I attended as elementary and junior high school student. In 2008 I became Principal of Kokomo High School. This was in the same building that was Haworth High School, my alma mater. I left KHS in 2010 to become Superintendent of the Maconaqah Schools. It has been a great experience returning to the superintendency and getting to know my new school community. I look forward to many years in this position. This is an exciting time to be a public school educator in the state of Indiana!! My wife Julie and I are "empty nesters" living in Kokomo. We are waiting for our three children to get married and have grandchildren. The best time ever!
